THE ALLIANCE 4 SUSTAINABLE FOOD ADVOCATES is a networking group created by Emily Brooks to unite those who support local agriculture, sustainable farming, local food production, and sustainable food systems.  The development of local, living economies rests on our nation-wide collaboration as we change the social norm towards agricultural sustainability, farmer & producer support, and small business development.

Deerfield Farm is a featured farmer in Connecticut Farmer & Feast, a revolutionary new cookbook by Emily Brooks.

Deerfield Farm is a small working dairy farm with about 40 head of registered Jersey cows. They pride themselves in bringing you fresh milk, yogurt, soft cheese, and chocolate milk, as well as their own humanely raised veal.

Deerfield Farm is set in the beautiful rolling hills of Durham, CT. This growing business started as our families 4-H project and hobby 34 years ago. Prior to that farming was the way of life for the Naples family of Durham. In 2004 Deerfield Farm spread its feet and grew into a full time business. The present location on the corner of Parmelee Hill Rd. and Pent Rd. is town owned open space. The land and barn are leased from the town of Durham. In spring of 2005 the building of the new barn was done and we started the installation of our milking system, tie stalls, and barn cleaner. Fencing went up and the cows arrived in late spring of 2005.

This pretty piece of farmland once farmed by the late Tony Caltibiano was once again alive with agriculture. We make all our own hay that the cows eat and they graze the rolling hills through the summer. Deerfield Farm started by shipping all of our milk to a large scale processing plant. In December of 2005 we started bottling our own milk and selling it from the farm. Now all of the milk we produce is bottled at the farm or made into yogurt, chocolate milk, cream, or soft cheese in our own state certified processing room on premises. Deerfield Farm products are sold at the farm, 2 stores and 1 farmers' markets in CT.  Deerfield Farm welcomes visitors and groups for field trips.
